Olatokunboh is the owner of Well of Indigenous Wisdom, an herbal and wellness company she established over 10 years ago. She was raised in East Africa where she first learned about plants, healing and health. During and after the birth of her children in the USA, she continued to use plants, nutrition and wellness therapies to heal her family. Olatokunboh received her Bachelors of Arts degree in the Language Arts and her Masters of Science degree in Herbal Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health. At the institute her teachers and mentors were renowned herbalists and nutritionists such as Dr. James A. Duke, Simon Mills, Amanda McQuade Crawford, James Snow and Paul Bergner. The most important education she has received, however, are from her life experiences and life relationships. Without the library offered by Mother Earth who has schooled her about plants, animals, minerals and living beings, her role as a healer would be meaningless. Her view on herbal medicine is that there are many definitions and practices of herbal medicine. She has no judgment on any. What is most important to her is that what she does works, heals and makes a difference. She believes herbal medicines gracefully heal us the way they have always healed our ancestors. To Olatokunboh, plants are both food and medicine. They "know" what we need because we have evolved together. Influenced by her upbringing, she respects the lifestyle of traditional cultures because traditional cultures across the globe respect, appreciate and accept the potent attributes of plants as medicine for body, mind and spirit, creating harmony. She believes that those of us who live the modern way, must learn from them, unlike traditional societies we have distanced ourselves from the truth of nature. It is her observation that people are innately drawn to plants because they are poignant healing allies. She writes this book as an initial step to call people to reconnect with nature because it is nature we were born and nature we shall leave, nature is the eggshell of our existence. Olatokunboh creates her medical practice by honoring the earth, using plants to bring harmony to her clients, using food as nourishment and medicine, empowering with lifestyle coaching, meditation and intuitive healing, bringing awareness and meaning of disease by guiding all concerned life to wellness. In her spare time she loves to teach and practice Synergy Dance Movement with her children.
