A$ap Mob

A＄AP Yams is one of the most influential figures in hip hop history. From his high school-aged A&R work with Jim Jones’ legendary Diplomats Records, to his pioneering role at the then-nascent intersection between hip hop and the internet with his #RNT Tumblr account, to the revolutionary geographically-agnostic sound of his early production for the A＄AP Mob, Yams (née Steven Rodriguez) irrevocably changed the cultural and musical landscape for generations to come.

Featuring hundreds of little and never-before-seen exclusive photographs, A＄AP Yams: Making of a Mob explores the founding and history of one of the most iconic collectives of this young century. Produced in concert with the A＄AP Foundation charity, all royalties will be donated to the Foundation’s mandate of community outreach, food security, and drug education for the youth of New York City.

Byron Hawes is an NYC-based writer, designer, and curator. He is the founder and editor of the underground design magazine The Après Garde, and co-founder of I-V, a boutique architecture and design firm that has done projects including a recording studio and offices for OVO Sound, and Campari’s Canadian HQ.

He is a contributing editor at Fucking Young and SidewalkHustle and has served as a contributing editor for both Hypebeast and HighSnobiety. Additionally, he has authored the books Drop, Art on Deck: An Exploration of Supreme Skateboards from 1998-2018, Object Oriented: An Anthology of Supreme Accessories from 1994-2018, Façades, and others.
