Carl Widell was a Republican for 30 years. When he saw Republican administrations run up huge deficits he concluded the Democrats were more responsible and changed parties. He has served as chair of the Talbot County (MD) Democratic Party, ran the 2012 Obama campaign in nine counties, was an alternate to the 2012 Democratic Convention, and has served on the Talbot County School Board. After having started and run several software companies, Carl has become involved in public/private development projects in West Africa concentrating on power generation and water treatment facilities. Carl lives in St. Michaels with his architect wife, Pamela Heyne, and his two daughters Svetlana and Katya.
