The Internet of Things is a many vision one paradigm technology that
connects electrical, electronic and non electrical objects around us to provide
seamless communication and contextual services. The smart objects through
heterogeneous communication protocols play an active role in information,
business and social processes. Social Networks is another revolutionary
technology that results in a network of voluminous social interactions and
personal relationships.
The integration of Social Networks and the Internet of Things has led to
a new paradigm known as Social Internet of Things (SIoT). SIoT is defined as
an interconnected social network of smart objects. Objects in SIoT are not only
smarter but also socially conscious. Objects autonomously collaborate with
each other via owners leading to discovery, selection and composition of
services. The Internet is populated with trillions of objects and social network
of objects are prominent solutions to identify, publish services and discover
competent resources to implement the services.
In the recent past, SIoT has opened copious research avenues in the field
of agriculture, logistics, automation, intelligent buildings, transportation etc.
Establishing a SIoT environment has numerous research challenges namely
security, privacy, trust, service management, fault tolerance, energy
management, semantic and context management. Measures and mechanisms to
identify malicious objects, guarantee reliable communication, identify SIoT
communities, efficient service discovery and flexible access of services inside
and outside the SIoT communities are crucial.
This research work guarantee trustworthy collaboration, assures efficient
service/resource discovery among SIoT communities, enable context aware
human activity recognition and assess the user’s perceptiveness about SIoT.
