Juana Gil-Fernández is director of the Instituto Cervantes de Lyon and has published widely in Spanish linguistics and phonetics, including Romance Phonetics and Phonology and Linguistic Universals. His research and publications have focused on experimental phonetics to speech technology and the study of phonetic transfer in second- and third-language acquisition.
