Encouraging and Comforting Someone
Part A: A Big Test
Lily and Tom are sitting on a bench.
(Lily = L ; Tom = T)
L: You don’t look so good, Tom. Did something bad happen?
T: No, nothing bad happened. I’m just very worried about my big test tomorrow.
L: You shouldn’t worry. You’re very smart, and you always study hard.
T: That’s very kind of you to say, thanks.
L: That’s not kind. It’s the truth.
T: Well, you are very kind, and you always put me in a good mood.
L: You also do the same for me. We’re friends, right?
T: Yes, we are. We are really good friends.
Part A:大考
L:Tom,
Part B: A Small Mistake
Mark is talking to Anna after her show.
(Mark = M ; Anna = A)
M: That was an excellent show, and you were wonderful!
A: Thanks, but I wasn’t wonderful. I’m unhappy with my mistake in the dance.
M: What are you talking about? I didn’t see anything wrong.
A: I missed a step in the last part. It was bad.
M: I couldn’t tell. Also, mistakes happen, so don’t be so hard on yourself.
A: That’s not possible. I want to be a great dancer.
M: To me, you’re already a great dancer.
A: You really think so? Thanks for believing in me.
Part B:
Part C: Good Moves
Jude and Mia are practicing together.
(Jude = J ; Mia = M)
J: I’m not kicking and moving the ball well.
M: It isn’t that bad. Just keep practicing and you’ll get better.
J: Thanks, I’ll try. Hey, how did you come up with your last move?
M: I didn’t. I saw it in a video. The player made it look easy.
J: You did, too. It was really cool.
M: It’s not great yet. One part is really hard for me.
J: You can figure it out. You always learn things fast.
M: That means a lot. Thank you.
Part C:
